Independent Investment Advice
There
are many people that call themselves "financial
advisors" but few investors are aware of the fundamental differences that
exist in the field between brokers, insurance agents, bankers and independent
investment advisors.
First, there is the issue of pay and motivation. Brokers
and insurance agents get paid a commission from products that they sell.
Thus, these individuals may have an incentive to recommend high cost products
that serve their purposes better than yours. Bankers get paid a salary without
regard to performance results. Their goal is to accumulate assets without
regard to return on investment.
You have another choice. We are a fee-only investment advisor. We are compensated exclusively by fees paid from our clients. This allows us to work in your best interests without conflict. In fact, as an Independent Registered Investment Advisor, we are held to a higher standard than stockbrokers or insurance agents. We are fiduciaries and must act in the best interests of our clients at all times.
